Let's Get TAN!!!!!

SINCE....it's summer time and all....it's time to get TAN!!!!

Everyone knows I LOVE a tan, but I've had scary melanoma scares.  I've actually probably got it, but I refuse to have anymore keloid type scars on my body (since I already have two on my shoulder from cutting out two pre-melanoma situations).  SO....if I'm not going to be at the pool laying out (which I rarely have time for with an infant), I'm going to be using some TAN IN A BOTTLE!!! I don't have time to go to a tanning bed and LORD knows it's SOOOOO not good for you!!! IF you are still the type to go to a tanning bed, I implore you to stop immediately.  Trust me....you don't want want the hassle of dying from skin cancer.  AND PLEASE....if you will be laying out this summer....USE SPF!!!  You can still get a wonderful tan with it!! :)

So...I've tried MILLIONS of tanning products and a lot of people always ask me what gets the best color.  Let me give you my expert advice.  AND... PLEASE feel free to comment if you know of a product that works better or if you absolutely LOVE a product you use!!!  I LOVE trying new things!!!

I will only be giving you my TOP 10 products.  Please be advised....I've tried MANY (MANY) others....but these are my top 10 favorite ways to get a bronzed look!! :)  Happy Tanning :)

(1)  Airbrushing: Having someone Airbrush you is always my number one choice IF I'm going to an event where I need to be super tan and flawless.  BUT remember: It might rub off if you get too hot, sweaty, or possibly wear a light color of clothing (white, yellow, etc).  This happened to me in the dead of heat in Miami in a white shirt :)  Thankfully, I was with the girls...it wasn't a huge deal.  If you decide to do this, make sure you do a practice run with the person airbrushing you first (if you're doing it for something important....like a wedding).  Smell: It leaves a little bit of an odor, but it's worth it!  COST: Different cost for different places.

(2)  My secret tanning item I LOVE is called Sunbrushed!:  It's an AWESOME product!  It's just like getting airbrushed, and you can do it all by yourself.  It takes 10 minutes to apply, but you will be super tan after only ONE application.  I use the Tanning Kit, and you have to buy it online.  Smell:  It doesn't leave an odor, and it doesn't make you orange.  I used it for my friend Hollie's wedding, because I could take it with me and do touch ups!  If you are interested in purchasing: http://www.sunbrushed.com/Sunless_Tan_02.html  COST: $39.99

(3)St. Tropez is one of my NEW favorites!!!  It comes in many different forms (lotion, mousse, spray).  It works VERY fast.  I use the tanning mousse...and it works GREAT!!!  However, I would recommend using a glove to apply it.  OR...you will end up with a BLACK palm :).  It works VERY well, and it gives you a great tan (zero orange).  It gives off a GREAT smell too.  You can buy it at Sephora or  http://www.sttropeztan.com/thestore COST: $30.00 (depending on what type you get)

(4)  Hawaiian Tropic Firming Island Glow: This is a gradual type of tan, but it works well.  It takes a good two or three days, but it works!  It smells pretty good, and it moisturizes and helps firm up the ass! lol. joking!  COST: IF you buy it online, you can get it for $3.99

 (5) Nivea Sun-Kissed Beautiful Legs Tan Moisturizer: It's a pretty good product.  It leaves a bit of a smell, but it isn't too overpowering.  It works very well....but it is a gradual self-tanner.  Although it isn't as quick as the others mentioned so far, it gives great results and is something you can use daily.  COST: $9.99

(6)  Jergens Natural Glow (med-dark skin):  This product actually works VERY well, BUT it smells horrible.  The next day your friends will be able to tell you used it just by the smell it gives off.  Love the look of the product...it just smells too bad for me!!  COST:  $7-$8

(7) Olay Body Touch of Sun: Great product ...BUT... it's gradual!!!!!  You will NEVER get super dark unless you continue to buy the product.  If you are going for a slight tan, this would be perfect for you.  It doesn't have a horrible smell, so that's a plus.  COST:  $8.99

(8)  L'Oreal Sublime Bronze (med/natural tan):  This will get you DARK, but you have to apply it evenly or it will cause streaks.  It smells okay, but it goes on sparkly!  So, I usually apply it at night time, let it set in, and shower in the morning to get rid of the sparkle.  You do not want to wear anything nice to bed or go anywhere after you apply.  The sparkles will rub off on clothing....and NOBODY is that damn sparkly!  Sparkles went out in the late 90's.  COST: $9

(9) Nivea Body - Sunkissed Firming Moisture (med-dark skin): This is a gradual tan too.  The smell is just okay.  It doesn't get you super dark...it just gives a glow.  If you use the majority of the bottle, you might get a decent tan.  You'd just have to continue using the bottle.  COST: $8-$9

(10) Spray Tanning:  Getting a Spray Tan as opposed to getting airbrushed will always work fine too.  They don't give that orange look like they used to.  It's always a quick way to get a glow.  They DO smell funny, but they do work well!!!

Regardless of which products you decide to use, just don't go to the tanning bed!!!  Skin cancer isn't CUTE!  Having a glow is great... and being white is always much, MUCH hotter than skin cancer.  SO...whether you decide to get tan or not.... NO, NO, NO....TANNING BED!!!! AND ALWAYS SPF!!!

Have a sexy summer!!! xoxo

  1. Hmmm.... great advise!! I to have had the skin cancer scare, and have two fairly large scars on my chest and very visible when I wear low cut clothing, NOTHING is worth the risk. I loved tanning beds but know they are so very harmful. Good advice Sam! ♥
